Adding a model to your running InstaSD instance is a simple process that allows you to enhance your workflow with new AI models. This guide will walk you through the steps to upload models using a file explorer interface, as well as how to source and upload files from popular model hosting providers.
1. Open the File Explorer
To get started, you’ll need to access the File Explorer within the InstaSD interface.
How to Access:
Click on the File Explorer button (first icon from the left in the bottom dock controls).
This will open the file management window, where you can navigate through the ComfyUI directories.
2. Navigate to Your Desired Folder
Once the file explorer is open, you need to choose the folder within the ComfyUI directories where you want to add the new model or file.
How to Navigate:
Browse through the directories by clicking on the folder names.
If needed, you can also create a new folder by clicking the Create Folder button on the right-hand side.
3. Add a File
Once you’ve located or created the folder you want to store the model in, you can begin the upload process.
How to Add a File:
Click the Add File button on the right-hand side of the folder.
You will have two options to upload the model:
Using a Publicly Available Link: This is the recommended method for models hosted on platforms like Civitai, Hugging Face, or Replicate.
Direct Upload: If you choose to upload a file directly, note that we recommend avoiding this for files larger than 200MB due to potential upload issues.
4. Upload the Model Using a Link
When using a publicly available link from a model provider, follow these steps:
Civitai:
Go to the model page on Civitai.
Right-click on the Download button and select "Copy link address".
Paste the link into the upload interface on InstaSD.
Hugging Face:
Navigate to the model page on Hugging Face.
Find the model file you want to download.
Right-click on the Download button and select "Copy link address".
Paste the link into the upload interface on InstaSD.
Replicate:
Go to the model page on Replicate.
Look for the "Download model" or direct file link.
Right-click and copy the download link.
Paste the link into the upload interface on InstaSD.
5. Upload the Model
After entering the download link or selecting a file to upload, make sure the file name includes the proper file extension (e.g.,
.pth
,.ckpt
, etc.).Click Upload to begin the process.
